Walking in a Pink Wonderland
This cake was created for a little girl that was having a VERY special day, not only was she turning 2 (which is a pretty big thing) but her family was also celebrating her adoption.
The two tier cake with a tutu layered cupcake was made with a pink winter wonderland theme to match the party decorations.
The Little Monkey Turns One
When my nephew turned one my sister wanted me to make a cake for him that was very simple with a monkey theme. I used his birthday invitation for the inspiration, I always love coordinating things.
Cake Flavor: Moist Banana (of course!) with Cream Cheese Frosting

This is actually one of my favorite cakes that I've ever made. I love how simply sophisticated it is. I love the choice of brown and green against the white fonant. But my favorite part about this cake actually happened by accident. When the bride brought me the ribbon to go around the bottom of the tiers they didn't have quite enough and they didn't think that they could get any more. So, to improvise I used a ribbon color that was similar to the brown, unfortunately all I could find was a thin 5/8" width. I covered the back 4-5" gap on the back with layers of the thin ribbon, I then tied bows that cascaded down the back of the cake. I loved the result! But me being me, I forgot to get a picture of the bows. So you'll just have to picture it in your head.

This fun western style wedding cake was created (in August) for a girl who grew up on a ranch. I loved her choice of the two different colors of brown, I admit that I've never tried a tone on tone cake before but I loved it. The hand crafted belt that wraps around the bottom tier was extremely fun to make. It reminded me of sitting at scout camp with my mom and brother playing with the leather tooling sets. I am so lucky my mom decided to take the girls along too instead of dropping us off at a baby sitter. Oh, the memories!

Contrast is what this fun craft inspired cake is all about. The black contrasts the white, quilted lines counter swirled whimsys, the light pink and the bold red help each other stand out, and the elegant black satin bow creates a perfect companion to the charming rick rack border.
Cake Flavor: Raspberry Lemonade with Lemon Buttercream Frosting, and Darn Good Chocolate Cake with Fluffy Chocolate Frosting (I can not even describe how heavenly this one smelled cooking in the oven. YUM!!!)
